Michelle Wood is the Director for the CDC‐funded Sodium Reduction in Communities Program (SRCP) within the Division of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention with the LA County Department of Public Health (DPH). In this capacity, Ms. Wood oversees the project team and all aspects of implementation of sodium reduction strategies in government and hospital food service settings. She is also the Program Manager for DPH’s healthy food procurement initiative and leads efforts to improve the nutritional content of food sold and offered in government and other large employer food service contracts. Ms. Wood oversees the implementation of two County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisor’s motions on healthy food procurement and since 2011 has lead the development of 14 food procurement policies including the development of nutrition standards for the Good Food Purchasing Guidelines adopted by the Los Angeles City Council and the Los Angeles Unified School District. She has co‐authored multiple peer‐reviewed publications on the impact of healthy food procurement policies. Ms. Wood has worked in the health policy arena for more than 15 years and earned her Master of Public Policy from the University of Southern California.
