Using Social Media Tools to Support CEED Program Strategies

It is an accepted fact that President Obama’s campaign was a stellar success due in large part to his strategic use of Facebook and YouTube. The high cost of traditional media (i.e., television, radio, and newspapers) and its limited scope in terms of providing real time information, has reduced its effectiveness in a world that requires instantaneous information. As a result, it has now become general business practice for organizations to use social networking tools as part of their strategic plan to deliver messages to the public. Toward this end, it is critically important for organizations to become familiar with new media tools and determine how they may be used enhance their work.

The purpose of this Webinar is to provide an overview of Social Media (or Social Networking), as well as demonstrate how CEED committees may use certain tools to support and strengthen their programs. The Webinar will outline some of the fundamental social media principles the committees may use in their work moving forward, and also discuss which tools are most effective and why.

    Kendall AlexanderKendall is a Project Coordinator for the Health Policy Institute at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies.     Star TiffanyStar Tiffany is a Program Communications Specialist at the Public Health Institute (PHI). She also coordinates and plans Web Forums both within PHI and with partners such as Joint Center. In addition, she helps manage the D4H Community, Twitter, and Facebook pages.
