Jennifer Mason, MPH
Senior Family Planning/HIV Integration Advisor, Office of Population and Reproductive Health, Global Health Bureau
Jennifer Mason is a Public Health professional with more than 15 years of experience in reproductive health, maternal and child health and HIV/AIDS programming. Her area of expertise is in program design and implementation of family planning and HIV/AIDS services. She has undergraduate degrees in Biology and Health Education and a Master’s of Public Health in International Reproductive Health.
She is the senior advisor for FP/HIV Integration in the USAID Office of Population and Reproductive Health, Global Health Bureau. Jennifer provides FP/HIV technical guidance to USAID health programs across the globe and to USAID central projects and initiatives. She provides technical leadership to the USG interagency FP/HIV Task Force and support to PEPFAR efforts to strengthen FP integration into HIV platforms.
Ms. Mason is an expert on health in the Middle East and served as the USAID Middle East Bureau Health Advisor from 2008-2013, during which time she was a Global Health Fellow. While working in the USAID Asia and Middle East Bureaus she was the team focal person for family planning and HIV and provided technical support to USAID health teams across Asia and the Middle East on project development and management, strategic planning and monitoring and evaluation.
Prior to her work at USAID, Ms. Mason was the Acting Regional Director for Asia and Middle East activities at Project HOPE and served as a Senior Program officer focused on family planning and HIV/AIDS with Pathfinder International and PACT. Ms. Mason has experience in complex emergency and conflict settings, including program design and management of health programs for refugees and internally displaced populations. She served three years as a Peace Corps health extension worker in Morocco and lived in South Sudan for a year and a half as the Reproductive Health Coordinator for the American Refugee Committee. She has extensive field experience in Asia, North Africa, Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa and the South Pacific.
Jennifer lives with her husband and two exuberant little boys in Alexandria, VA.
